Ethics and Consistency

Politics

In terms of pre-operational philosophy and ideology, Chinese Communism exhibits greater internal consistency and fewer contradictions than Western values, such as capitalism and democracy. However, when ethics are prioritized, double standards become unavoidable; a lack of consistency and the emergence of contradictions are inevitable consequences.

Ethics is something that requires an aesthetic sense—it is a measure used to weigh the beauty and ugliness of human actions. Law, then, is likely the preservation of that shared aesthetic consciousness in a formal, communicable state. On the other hand, humans are beings who possess both beauty and ugliness simultaneously. When dealing with ethics, double standards are a natural necessity.

The flaw in Western thought is not that double standards arise, but that it attempts to handle ethics while ignoring their inherent necessity. This leads us to the ultimate question: is internal consistency truly what is required here?
